This impressive Anglo-Saxon bowl is a replica of an original unearthed in Newark, during excavations at Slaughter House Lane in 1958, 1978, and 1988, as part of a redevelopment project.
The site, located on the edge of the River Trent, has shown evidence of continuous occupation from the Romano-British period into modern times. This bowl is one of many remarkable finds that offer insight into the everyday lives of the Anglo-Saxon inhabitants of the region.

Production
This replica has been handcrafted in our Northumberland studio, using authentic tools and techniques to ensure a historically accurate finish.
- Each piece is individually made, following historical Anglo-Saxon pottery methods.
- The reduction firing process creates unique surface colour and texture variations, just like the original artefact.
- As with all handcrafted pottery, each bowl is one of a kind, making yours truly unique.
